Tay Lane likes to live and work between realities. They easily get mixed up between what could be called fact and fantasy, and are interested in playing with the boundaries between them. They have worked with their circus company Collectif and then... for the past decade, as a performer, writer, organiser, runner, fundraiser, monster, driver and cleaner among others. They undertook and MA in Contemporary Circus Practice program at Stockholm University of the Arts [previously DOCH], where they worked with a 20 litre water container that goes by the name ‘Tank’. Their new performance Tank and Me has been developed with the support of The Lowry, Salford.

Monster

Three human bodies, with white and brown skin, are seemingly merged together, to become a “ball” of different heads and limbs suspended approximately two feet above the ground. You can not see the faces on the individual performers, they appear to exist as one entity. The wall behind is made of sand coloured bricks and the floor is grey, and has a large crack pictured in the foreground of the image.

Greetings, allow me to introduce myself. I am the artistic director of Collectif and then… We make contemporary performances and installations together which draw on our various circus practices.
